About Cheryl

An Indigenous Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist and Wholistic Energy Healer uses a lens of unconditional love, kindness, wisdom, and understanding to guide my practice of therapeutic counselling for individuals 18 and up.

My personal journey of continuous healing through the pain of unresolved childhood trauma, intergenerational trauma, suicide ideation, addiction, and mental health struggles of depression & anxiety, provides me with an open heart and a compassionate soul to walk alongside you, as you journey through healing emotional pain. I hold space for you to release that pain and move inward to self-love and soul connection, as you re-connect with who you are, in a gentle, kind, and non-threatening way.

Karonyahawi uses therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Narrative Therapy, Inner Child work, Psychodrama, and healing modalities like Focus-Intention Technique (F.I.T), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and cultural practices.

Primarily, some previous employment experiences are: Sexual Violence Therapist at Sonhatsi:wa Healing Centre that provides the knowledge and skills to support and guide through traumatic and sensitive experiences, using Family Systems Theory (Inner Child), Psychodramatic Body Work and Narrative Therapy, in individual and group sessions.

Adult Mental Health & Addictions counsellor at Dedwadadehs<nyes Aboriginal Health Access Centre (DAHAC) gifted me with tools like Trauma-Specific Care and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) that support individuals toward goals of recovery and healing.

As the Mental Health Support Worker at Native Horizons Treatment Centre (NHTC) I was gifted with experience and tools that support individuals through the pain of why you use, where the unexpressed energy/pain is held in the body & to express & safely release the pain, and recognize unhealthy patterns and learn new tools for healthy coping rather than continuing the cycle of pain.
Ultimately, my goal is to safely hold space as you journey inward, with love, kindness, and gentleness, to the real you!

Sessions can be in person or by Zoom.
